The True Diversity Of Italian Cuisine
from Italian Traditional Food

Italian cuisine is very diverse

There are millions of people today enjoying the fine foods of Italy across the globe, what many do not understand however is just how much diversity there is in Italian cuisine.

To take true notice of this comment, one would have to take a trip throughout the Italian regions one by one. This would undoubtedly give way to the idea, that Italy is a vast and cultural melting pot of diversion.

From the local specialty breads and sausages, to the cheeses and wines, the differences are plentiful and obvious in Italian cuisine.

The fact that the foods are different only shows that this is a country that has been influenced by outside sources for several centuries.

Noodles To The North And Noodles To The South

One word comes to mind when you think about the true diversity of Italian cuisine in Italy, and that is multiplicity. Italy is one nation sharing a passion for a particular food, yet divided by the small choices that make all the difference in the world. The northern regions of Italy enjoy a fine egg noodle as their pasta of choice, while the southern regions are more appreciative of the harder boiled spaghetti type noodles.

Whichever region you choose to dine in, you are sure to get the very best of the respective noodle. Funny enough, dependant on where you are in the north or the south will also dictate how the noodles are cooked and served with what. The same can be said for virtually all of the regional special dishes and food items as well, and it is never a war about which is better as they all are appreciated for what they are.

Not Only Region But Class Plays A Role In Diversity

The true diversity of Italian cuisine is not only dictated by the region that you are in, but what class citizen you are ranked as well. Many of the dishes that are of traditional nature are more geared towards the lower to middle class, while the various differences in cuisine can be attributed to having money or being wealthy.

This is not uncommon, and as a matter of fact this is practically the way it throughout the world. The rich can afford to sample various worldly foods, while the less financially fortunate have food ways to perfect what they have to work with. Whichever region you come from and whatever dialect you have, it merely shapes the culture of this wonderful county and rounds it off to a fulfilling and diverse package for the world to enjoy.

Everyone Chips In

While the cultural differences seem vast in Italy, it all seems to revolve around one entity being Italy itself. Sicily is very heavy on the North African culture, while Naples caters to seafood and white sauces. Rome is rich in produces due to the vast agricultural landscape, and Bologna is deep in fats and rich meats that make up its diet. Whichever region's foods you admire, there is sure to be someone just like you admiring another regions. The Italian cuisine is trully diverse.
