Italian Desserts The Final Act
At The Italian Dinner Table
Italian Desserts
Are Mouthwatering
There is a great deal of to-do about the fine Italian cuisine that you see in the menu of a fine
restaurant, but you must always save room for the Italian desserts to close out a great night. These treats have
history as long as their main course counterparts, yet patrons that dine in old school Italian fashion seldom
remember them.
Some recipes are as old as the culture itself, while some are now being introduced to a trendy
new crowd looking for something fresh. From fine cookies to delicate cakes and puddings, these wonderful Italian
desserts know just how to end the evening on the right note.
Never Goes Out Of Style
One of the most appreciated Italian desserts that are available today
is the Biscotti, and this delightful cookie does in deed have some history. This almond cookie that is baked not
once but twice has been around since 1858, and has yet to loose steam in the sales department. Light and flaky this
cookie is almost a mainstay on the Italian dinner table, and has as of late had a form of resurgence to tantalize
young taste buds across the globe. Antonio Mattei of Prato Italy know exactly what he was doing when he set out to
create this wonderful cookie, what he did not anticipate is just how popular this cookie would become. You can find
these treats in just about every bakery in almost any grocery store today, and you cannot walk past an Italian
bakery without catching the wonderful scent of these darling cookies.
Id Possibly Required
Next on our list of fine Italian desserts is Anguria Imbrigà
col Gelato or Drunken watermelon with ice cream, is basically what the name implies, and is anything but something
that should be left off the menu. This dish involves the use of rum, and cubes of watermelon incorporated in a
sorbet and placed in a mold. While it may seem like a nightmare for the children, the beauty of it is that you can
in fact adjust the level of “Happy Ingredients” as in rum. This is anything but a new dish, yet people around the
world are just starting to take notice of it. This even includes many Italians themselves; as the notion of alcohol
based foods tend to have parents leaning towards conservative nature. By perhaps making two separate batches, you
can in fact tame one down so the kids can appreciate this delightful dessert as well.
New Appreciation Meets Old World Charm
Simply put, Italian desserts are important to any great meal. Whether it is something
extravagant or something that is thrown together in mere minutes, the fact remains that Italians love their final
course as much as the courses previous. Many Italians do enjoy a very simple dessert such as fresh cut fruit. Some
have decided to take things a bit farther and experiment with this, bringing new world charm to an old
favorite.
One of the big kicks today on the Italian scene is to incorporate Balsamic vinegar with fresh
strawberries. Hulling the fresh strawberries and sprit zing them with the balsamic vinegar may seem to many as a
poor choice, but on the contrary is quick refreshing and delicious.
