Simple ItalianTraditional Food is best!

Italian cuisine is all about simplicity and using only freshest, best ingredients, then using basic cooking techniques to enhance the natural flavour of the food.

What could be more basic than the pizza?

Pizza recipe from Italian Traditional Food

Yet, this simple dish has found world-wide fame just because it tastes so good!

Would you not eat a pizza because of it's origins?

Some of these rural Italian food recipes have been used for centuries by peasant farmer's wives (Pattona, Pattona Dura and Torta di Patate, for example) to feed hungry households, so have well stood the test of time. They are not the highly polished and intensely decorated type of Italian cuisine recipes that you will find in most modern Italian restaurants but the very basic home cooking that will guarantee a satisfied smile from everyone. Go ahead and try them, you will be glad that you did!

You may well be surprised to learn that "Polenta" and "Focaccia" (the most humble of Italian peasant cuisine) for example, have very successfully found their way onto the menus of the very best of Italian and non-Italian restaurants alike! So, please do not be a food snob just because it may have had humble origins. Just enjoy the flavours.

I have used these Italian traditional food recipes to successfully feed my entire family for the past forty five years.

Traditional Italian food is meant to be enjoyed!

Through this website, I hope to share with you my love of traditional Italian food in other words rural, peasant cooking in all it's simplicity.

I hope to inspire everyone to try new food recipes, and to fully experience the joy of Italian cooking. I will be adding in new rustic, Italian food recipes and articles periodically, so please keep on visiting the site to ensure that you have the latest recipes and articles.

Enjoy cooking Italian!
