from Italian Traditional Food

Pasta Is Grand But Fish Is Divine

When someone thinks about Italian food more often than not it is the thought of pasta, but with its thousands of miles of coastline Italy does in fact have a place in its lifestyle for fish.

There are many different forms of sea bottom that can be found around Italy, all of which yield various forms of sea life. Many of these creatures are considered delicacies in this country that is thought of as the pasta capital of the world.

There are many dishes that would easily accept world-class status, that the Italians incorporate fish into.

Whatever the design or taste, you can bet that fish is going to be offered as Italians embrace this wonderful food as their own.

Soups Salads Or Main Dishes Fish Is The Star Of The Show

If it is a vintage Neapolitan meal that you are seeking, then look no further than Zuppa di Vongole o Cozze in Bianco or (Clam or mussel soup without the use of tomato). This is a fine example of fish and its place in the Italian lifestyle, and this is a very simple dish that many Italians simply adore. Served with bread to mop up the juice, you have a wonderful soup to open the evening's meal.

The Italians know a thing or two about salads as well, and they have no issues with introducing seafoods into these salads to spark them up. Simple shrimps and or scallops tossed in a salad for flavor do a dish well and can be enjoyed for lunch or with the main course at dinner. When it comes to a true delight however, there is nothing more appealing than a fine bed of linguini or angel hair pasta, with a gentle helping of mussels steamed in white wine and garlic to pop the taste buds.

A Main Staple For Generations

During the time of the second world war, many families could not afford to eat meat more than once or twice per week. Considering Italy has such a vast coastline, there is an obvious understanding why fish has a place in the Italian lifestyle. There are a great many forms of fish that could be extracted from the sea, and the Italians were not shy about experimentation.

Fish was considered for many years as a form of main staple, and is still a very popular food for people young and old. Many dishes use fish that is backed or grilled, and these meals are simply bursting with flavor. They usually are accompanied by some steamed or grilled vegetable, and are chased by a fine wine and bread to close the simple meal.

The Sauce Speaks For Itself

If you are taking into account that fish does have a place in the Italian lifestyle, then you will not be shocked to learn that many of the pastas that are served today, have some form of fish sauce as a dressing. Some Italians choose to use a squid or octopus base, while others opt for a mo0re simple and traditional sauce that involves striped or sea bass. Whatever the choice, you can be sure that this dish will sell itself and you will never forget the exquisite taste that it offers.
