delight
Gelato alla fragola (Strawberry ice ream) is another all favourite classic
Italian dessert. This very popular Italian gelato can be found in every gelateria.
Homemade Gelato alla fragola
(strawberry ice cream) is full of real strawberry flavour and is much better than the manufactured
variety. Strawberry ice cream can now be made at home using an electric ice cream maker. The ice cream maker will
mix together the ingredients whilst freezing them to produce delightful homemade ice cream.
Gelato alla fragola (strawberry ice cream) is one of the easiest to
make, but you MUST use RIPE strawberries. If not, there will always be a sour taste irrespective of how much
sugar is added!
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
1 lb (450 grams) ripe strawberries
1 juice of medium orange
1 cup (200 grams) sugar
2 cups (450 cc) whipping cream
few strawberries for decoration
Ice cream maker
Method:
1. Clean the strawberries.
2. Cut the strawberries into small pieces.
3. Place the cut strawberries in a food processor.
4. Add the sugar.
5. Add the orange juice.
6. Run the food processor until the strawberries are reduced to a coarse paste.
7. Transfer the strawberry paste to the ice cream maker.
8. Add the whipping cream.
9. Now follow the instructions that came with the ice cream maker.
10. Transfer the strawberry ice cream to a plastic container and place in the freezer.
11. Use the remaining strawberries to decorate the Gelato alla fragola when
serving.
